Data Transfer Guide - Android Devices


Introduction


This guide provides information and instructions to help you prepare for the transfer of data when migrating your Android phone/tablet. 

Ensure you have completed Part 1 before proceeding.


System Requirements

  • Android Device
  • Reliable Internet connection (mobile data - 4G or Wi-Fi)
  • Microsoft OneDrive app
  • (optional) Google account

Photos


When restoring photos, use the same method as in Part 1.


Option 1) Restore photos from the OneDrive app


1. From the homescreen, swipe up to open the App Drawer

2. Select your Work Profile and tap on the OneDrive app to open it.

3. Tap on 'Sign In' to begin


4. Sign in with your work email account.



5. Navigate to your Photo Backup Folder


6. Long press on one of the images, then select all the images/files you would like to download

7. Tap on the 'Download' button at the top.



8. If prompted, 'Open Settings' to grant permission for OneDrive to access storage



9. Check the download location and navigate to your preferred folder (e.g. DCIM > Camera).
Tap the 'Save' button at the top to initiate the download


Your photos have now been restored to your new phone.



Option 2) Restore photos from PC

  1. Connect your phone to a PC
  2. Unlock your phone and allow/trust the computer to allow access
  3. Navigate to your files/images that you saved to your PC
  4. Copy the files/images
  5. Paste the files/images to the phone storage (located in 'This PC' - Devices and Drives)


Contacts


Option 1) Restore contacts from OneDrive


1. Open the OneDrive app



2. Navigate to your Contacts.vcf file which was uploaded in Part 1.


3. Tap on 'Import' to import all the contacts saved within the file to the phone

4. You may have If prompted, select 'Phone' and then select 'Import'.





Your contacts have now been restored to your new phone.



Option 2) Sync from a personal Email Account


If you synchronised your contacts to a personal account in Part 1, you will need to sign in to that account on your new phone. You may have already added your account during the setup; if not, sign in via Settings or through the steps below:

  1. Open the Phone/Contacts app
  2. From the menu, select Manage Contacts
  3. Select Sync Contacts
  4. Add or enable your personal email account to start syncing
