Data Transfer Guide - Apple Devices


Introduction


This guide provides information and instructions to help the transfer of data when enrolling your iPhone/iPad. Ensure you have completed Part 1 before setting up your new device.


System Requirements

  • Apple device with an iOS 15 or higher
  • Reliable Internet connection (mobile data - 4G or Wi-Fi)
  • Apple ID/iCloud account or Microsoft OneDrive

Contacts, Messages and Photos (via iCloud)


Your Outlook contacts will automatically download to your device once signed in. Please ensure you have signed in to the company portal app as directed in the Enrolment guide and signed in to the Outlook app.


If you synchronised your contacts, messages or photos via iCloud in Part 1:



1. From the Homescreen, Open the Settings App
 
2. Tap 'Sign into your iPhone'
3. Enter your Apple ID (email) and password to sign in
4. Once signed in, Tap on 'iCloud'

5. Tap on 'Show All'

6. Ensure Photos, Contacts, Messages and any other services you require are enabled
7. Tap on 'Use on this iPhone / Sync this iPhone'
8. Allow time for your messages to sync
 
9. Press 'back' to navigate back to the main settings
10. From Settings and scroll down to 'Messages'
11. Enable 'iMessage'
12. It may take a moment to activate


Your Contacts, Messages have now been restored to your device. Photos will take additional time depending on the number of photos/videos.



Photos


Option A) Restoring Photos from OneDrive


1. From the homescreen, Open the Comp Portal app.


2. From the Apps screen, tap on 'OneDrive'. It should appear under Featured apps.

3. Tap on 'Install', once installed, tap on 'Open'.


4. Select the 'Files' tab at the bottom to view your folders and files. Select your backup folder - iOSPhotos.

5. Your photos can be downloaded back to your phone by pressing the 3 dots to the right of the image.

6. Select 'Download'. This will need to be actioned for each image/file.



Your photos have now been restored to your device.



Option B) Restoring Photos from iCloud


If you have backed up photos to iCloud in Part 1, see instructions in above iCloud section.



Option C) Restoring Photos via USB Transfer


If you have backed up photos to your desktop/laptop in Part 1:

  1. Connect your new device via USB cable
  2. Unlock the device
  3. On your PC, navigate to your backup folder and copy the contents
  4. Your Apple device will show up as a drive labelled "Apple iPhone/iPad"
  5. Open the drive and navigate to Internal Storage > DCIM
  6. Paste your photos into this folder
